The Kura Door

So my wonderful husband gave me a Gift Certificate from The Kura Door for my birthday. It was for a 60 minute Kura Massage and Spa Pedicure. Yes, I've gotten massages before, and enjoyed it very much. But let me just say, my eyes have been opened to a whole new realm of SPAOLOGY (my word for the world of spas).

Upon my arrival, I was greeted by name. Amazing customer service I thought. When you walk into The Kura Door your knees almost buckle from the smell of eucalyptus, lemon-grass, orange blossom, ginger, etc... I could have laid down right there on the hard wood floor and dozed off for my usual 30 minute evening cat nap. As I was escorted to the back of the spa I was offered a beverage and asked my shoe size for a pair of massaging sole sandals. I hadn't even been touched once and I was already impressed. I was given a cozy spa kimono to change into and was then escorted to a lovely waiting room. At first, it was a little odd for me to be naked under my kimono and sitting next to an older gentlemen wearing only the kimono as well. Yes, I know you can't see through the kimono, but, it was just a little odd for me. It wasn't long before I thought to myself "oh what the crap, I'm so relaxed I don't care." Sipping my lemon water my massage therapist came around the corner wearing a massive grin and introduced me to the vast array of massaging lotions which I got to pick. The flavor of the night for me was Lemon-Grass. My massage therapist was lovely. She was dainty and I'm sure my 6 foot figure is a little intimidating for someone so small. But she attacked those knots in my back like non before her. After the wonderful massage she invited me to enjoy their sauna. I was given another cozy towel wrap and stepped into a world of eucalyptus scented steam. AHHHHHHH. I only sat in the sauna for a mere 5 minutes in fear of hurting my little peanut. I got sick a little during the massage and sauna room but I will spare you the details.

So Takashi is my favorite restaurant and The Kura Door is my favorite spa. The Japanese are really onto something :). I highly recommend both to all my friends. And for any of you gentlemen out there reading this, send your wives to The Kura Door. She'll love you forever!
